The Bad from Switzerland is a post punk rock band lead by Julia Jones and Eric Noorman. The Bad hates being limited by any style, convention or conservatism. That reflects in their songs which are a wild mix of punk rock, alternative rock, noise rock, grunge, goth, metal and stoner. Each song is unique and has is own vibe. So be warned, this is a take it or leave it concept and is only suitable for the open minded..
The Bad released two albums, their debut album 'Simply The Bad' in 2018, followed by 'Diamond Age' in 2019. The release open-air concert of 'Diamond Age' took place at a Swiss mountain hut called Boval Hütte at an altitude of 2500 meters.
One of their videos, shot between the crevasses of the Morteratsch glacier, was featured in a Swiss daily newspaper called '20-Minuten', distributed in about 400,000 copies. Their first EP was released on the 18th of July 2018 with a wild concert in Hafenkneipe, Zürich, followed shortly by their first full album “Simply the Bad”, released on vinyl. German Rock Radio and Swiss channels Radio Munot and Kanal K interviewed the Bad after the release.
The Bad also played in Maloe Melo, the oldest blues and rock'n'roll pub in Amsterdam, and in Rolling Rock Kitchen, a homey rock hangout in the harbours, owned by a famous Dutch photographer Ron Tetteroo. The vinyl release concerts took place in the Netherlands in Concerto Amsterdam, and in Kater club in Zürich. The Bad is also a guest at the Has Club festival. The Bad returned to Maloe Melo to play on July the 12th 2019.
Their music is a wild mixture of grunge, alternative rock, noise rock, and post punk. They hate being limited by a single style or genre, and they break genre boundaries to create their own sound. Simple, pumping music, inventive lyrics and a deep love for rock are the essence of The Bad.
The Bad released their second album, “Diamond Age” the 20th of September 2019. The album consists of ten new songs and features two singles. The first one, released on the 9th of August, is the opening song of the album called “Time Abound”, which is about the swift passage of time and time anxiety, supported by a stunning music video once again filmed in the Swiss Alps.
The second single, “Tainted Space”, is released on the 6th of September. The album also contains the booming anti climate change anthem “Fire of Change”, which was sung live by The Bad at the 35,000 people Climate March in Zürich. This is in line with the political involvement of the band members who refuse to use fossil fuel cars and planes for their tours and use an electric car instead, which they have christened “The Badmobile”.
“Diamond Age” is published by The Bad Records and is distributed by Irascible in Switzerland, Sonic Rendezvous in the Benelux and Broken Silence in Germany.
The release concert took place the 21st of September at a Swiss mountain hut called Boval Hütte at an altitude of 2,495 meters.
